EUreka3D-XR Final Booklet

The EUreka3D‑XR consortium is the author of this publication, which summarizes the project’s journey to support cultural heritage institutions in the digital transformation and innovation processes in 3D and XR, also with a focus on the new common European data space for cultural heritage.
The Booklet reflects on the current push to 3D digitisation and its use and reuse, which poses challenges to cultural heritage institutions in regard to safe storage, quality and authenticity of 3D collections, data management and sharing, and publication in Europeana as the EU discovery platform for European cultural collections.
More practically, to showcase project resources openly available to cultural heritage institutions, the Booklet describes the EUreka3D Data Hub for collections management and sharing; and the EUreka3D-XR Toolbox, a set of innovative tools dedicated to cultural professionals.
As case studies and inspiration for others, the Booklet dives into the experience of partner cultural institutions who used the tools to develop three extended reality experience scenarios, to create immersive storytelling based on digital cultural collections, that have been designed, tested and implemented in real-life settings in Spain, France and Cyprus.
Consideration and partners experiences about quality of data and documentation, the need for capacity building in the cultural heritage community, the challenges of sustainability and impact assessment complement the stories of the project collected in this open access publication.
