Tránsito de la Magdalena (ES)

This work was created by Luisa Roldán, one of the leading figures in Spanish Baroque sculpture and the only woman to hold the position of court sculptor under Kings Charles II and Philip V. Crafted from clay and polychromed, this piece is a characteristic example of her work, featuring meticulous attention to detail and the humanization of the figures.

The 3D digitization was carried out by Patrimonio Global SL. The photographs were taken with a 48-megapixel Nikon D850 camera and a 50mm prime lens, mounted on a tripod. An automated rotating platform was used to perform several full rotations at different heights, covering all angles and potential blind spots of the piece. Due to the piece’s baroque style, additional close-up shots were taken to ensure its proper documentation. The base was also documented, as it reveals the process of the work’s creation, including the artist’s fingerprints. The sculpture is perfectly scaled thanks to the reference points located around it.

The model is published as open access record in the EUreka3D Data Hub, aggregated in Europeana in the context of Twin.it for Spain, with collaboration of Spanish National Aggregator HISPANA.
